Why choose GeoGreens

Our philosophy

At GeoGreens, we dream of a world where agriculture gives back to the people and planet more than it takes. But to achieve this, we need more than incremental change.

We at Geoponica are focused on a “ZERO WASTE” mentality and way of farming, in that, we are extremely conscious on the amount of water used and recycled, and the medium used for growing to be recycled. and the direct and indirect carbon footprint. That said, our system is designed on the simplistic, scalable side of things to alleviate room for future complications.

About the Founder

GeoGreens was formed in 2014 by Desmond Hayes. Desmond was previously employed as a full time project manager for a construction companies serving New York and New Jersey before ending his time to work on the farm full time.

Concluding his college career, Desmond  was fortunate enough to acquire degrees in architecture, civil engineering, and environmental science while also being employed simultaneously in each industry. Desmond knew the environmental industry would become a major factor throughout society, and was always one to pay very close attention to sustainability. Specifically, the “17 Sustainable Development Goals” by the UN. He knew that he was unable to make an impact on every item, but by addressing one Desmond would also be impacting others. Desmond grew inspired when encountering various indoor, urban city farms both inside and out of the New York City boroughs using hydroponics. Shortly thereafter, he began his own efforts  experimenting with hydroponics and realizing its untapped potential to service different markets in atypical climate areas. And so, with population on the rise, hydroponics was the opportunity to have a direct influence on our food and water, land use and deforestation, and our carbon footprint.

The initial conceptual years of the company placed focus on understanding the industry, the product, and means of farming. Throughout the most recent years we have been  producing greens to both perfect our growing techniques , and determine the company’s  product line. During the summer of 2019 we had our first promotional outdoor showing.
