JOB SUMMARY

GeoGreens offers an unpaid, interactive internship in hydroponics while working within our model and toward our core mission. This internship provides an opportunity for learning all aspects of our hydroponics system by working directly with the owner, and seasonal, part-time hydroponic staff, to manage our state-of-the-art indoor warehouse farming operation. Interns should be committed to serving the mission and goals of GeoGreens, while GeoGreens works with interns to develop and reach their own learning objectives and goals.

Core Expectations

Interns will gain experience in hydroponic farming and food safety compliance. Daily and weekly tasks include, but are not limited to,

  • Assist hydroponic staff in daily operations
  • Harvest and package produce for shipment
  • Monitor and maintain plant feeding schedule
  • Monitor and maintain farm conditions
  • Scout hydroponic crops for pests and diseases
  • Implement safety protocols
  • working within the sales, interaction, and distribution of our produce to customers
  • Research and special projects
  • General administrative work
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Social Media control
  • Remote working – TBD

Benefits

Interns will receive ongoing mentoring and training based on their level of desire to succeed within the field and position.  We are only able to provide unpaid internships; however, we work with schools to determine grant opportunities to fund internships (if possible) or provide course credit, and would be more than willing to provide a recommendation for future endeavors. Please note, our program can and will transition to a paid internship with the right fit of applicant.

Education and Experience

Interns should be pursuing a degree in water resource management, sustainable energy, environmental studies, horticulture, indoor cultivation, or show/have a specific interest in sustainability and farming. Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills are required. A strong attention to detail and safety compliance are critical.

Internships shall be ongoing including and based on the intern’s availability, and more importantly, their immediate success within their day-to-day schooling. Schedules are flexible during normal hours of operation with a minimum of 10 hours/week desired.
